With the help of her new friends, Sillavana once again manages to escape the Brotherhood’s grasp. But safety is an illusion, and she’d better not get too comfortable. One evening when she and Renwin stop to rest for the night, they run into an old acquaintance at the local inn. However, it turns out their old friend is not exactly who she claimed to be.
Is there anyone she can still trust?
High up in the mountains, Jemaex has made his choice and travels to meet Thaola at the agreed-upon location. This might be his only chance to follow the dream he’s had since childhood, but nothing can prepare him for what he finds when he arrives.
Meanwhile, the Stone Wolf returns to his home after several years to settle an old score. But much has changed since he was last inWestreach, and the war-torn city has become cold and unfamiliar.
3. Shattered Empire - When Sillavana and Nylianset out to rescue Coprin, their plan is off to a rocky start. With few options available to them, they’ll have no choice but to accept aid from a most unlikely source.
In the meantime, the Brotherhood is still scouring the land in search of Sillavana. They have underestimated her, a mistake they will not make again. If the world chooses to continue aiding the ixolae despite their many warnings, then the world is just as guilty as she is.
