Alden Flint finds himself mourning and questioning all of his choices. The young Knight carries a heavy secret and an even heavier guilt as he finds himself aligned with people that were once his enemy. Ashe moves forward he must decide how to avoid a war and make his country better. Even if it means becoming a monster. Warren Faulkner is a man who has recently become a Knight Corporal of the Royal Guard, is the son of a new Duke, and has just stumbled upon an incredible affinity for Magic. Everything should be going well but the warrior giant finds himself unhappy as he questions his heart and makes a decision with serious repercussions to the Kingdom; only to have it fail with the visit of an Imperial Prince. The King prepares his nation for war, solidifying forces within his Kingdom as well as arranging for new allies from outside his borders. A powerful artifact that can burn entire nations to the ground in the wrong hands and was stolen. It must be retrieved at all costs or so he believes.

Exposed as the Demon and captured after the assassination of the Imperial Prince Atticus, Alden Flint escaped the King’s justice with the aid of new allies. Reunited with Elise, the three now flee the King’s men. As Alden struggles with the weight of the crimes he has committed, he must forge ahead toward what he hopes is peace and a better future. Warren Justus voi Faulkner has been stripped of his family name, the titles associated with it, and been betrayed by his closest friend. Now he is beholden to no one but the King himself. He has one task. To bring Alden back so that he can face the King’s justice and prevent the wrath of the Northern Empire from falling upon the Kingdom of Cinder.
The two were brothers in arms, trusting each other with their lives. Now they stand as enemies. In the middle is a Kingdom.
