1. Butter, Sugar, Magic - Embracing a midlife transformation has never been more delicious.
At best, she’s expecting a kitschy candy dish, at worst a beloved taxidermied pet, so when Cassie—newly divorced, single mom with zero prospects—discovers she’s inheriting a fully stocked bakery along with a beautifully furnished apartment from a great aunt she’d never even heard of, she’s convinced she must be dreaming.
The apartment bizarrely adapting itself to her whims and the friendly neighbor floating fireballs in the air aren’t helping.
Cassie has two choices. She can hightail it out of this bewildering town and figure out a way to support her pre-teen daughter. Or she can stay and live the life of her dreams in this unsettling place where the rules of physics don’t seem to apply, and people are suspiciously friendly and welcoming.
When Cassie and her daughter agree to give this new place a trial run (the fantastic pet shop next door is a helpful draw), she’s not convinced they’ve made the right choice. That hesitation just might cost her the fantastic life she and her daughter deserve.
2. Bread, Coffee, Magic - Living your dream shouldn’t be this challenging.
She owns a magical bakery and has the greatest friends, so why isn’t Cassie enjoying life as much as she thought she would?
It could be because her daughter is miserable and plotting ways to go back to Georgia to live with her dad. Or it could be because she’s working so hard she can’t enjoy the fruits of her labor let alone find time to connect with her kid.
There’s also the magic. Between the pre-teen drama and the bakery, she’s barely had time to come to grips with being a witch, forget about mastering her growing magical powers.
If she weren’t so tired, she could probably find a way to get this dream life back on track
If she weren’t so tired, she might have noticed the dream is about to turn into a nightmare.
Will quick thinking, friends, and magic be enough for Cassie to hold tight to what matters most? Or will it take something she hasn’t even considered?
3. Bitter, Sweet, Magic - Life would be so much sweeter if the oldest witch in town didn't have it out for her.
Over the course of six months, Cassie has gotten divorced, inherited a magical bakery, discovered she’s a witch, gotten stuck in a secret passage, gotten kidnapped, rescued her daughter from the worst of all horrors (a stuffy all girl’s boarding school), and has made the best friends anyone could ever ask to have.
She’s well overdue for a break.
It’s too bad that the oldest witch in town is determined to make her life as challenging as possible, in the most annoying ways imaginable. Or that a fortune teller has foretold someone from her past is coming to shake everything up.
Standing her ground and fighting for what she wants is not only the hardest thing Cassie has ever done, it might cost her everything she loves.
4. Sweet and Sour Spells - How much heat can Cassie take before she's forced out of her kitchen?
Now that her father has moved in, her daughter is finally settled, and her bakery is everything she dreamed it could be, Cassie should be able to sit back and enjoy her new life as a magical baker. But a string of disasters are disrupting business, her magic is going wonky, and her burgeoning relationship with the deputy sheriff is threatening her already shaky stability.
With her dream life at risk, her magic misbehaving, and a nemesis on the rampage, Cassie once again has to rely on her friends and family for help. But this time, when everything goes up in flames, she’s not the only one poised to lose everything.
