Overview: 350 years in the future, a dead man is found on the Moon. He died there 20,000 years ago.

“Get back inside before they find you,” she whispered. She knew me well enough to hear the strain in my voice, and worried that others might hear us, -but she didn't need to. They ignored her.

But her caution highlighted my danger. Starvation and a dying world were already trying to kill all of us. And now? The authorities at Evacuation Command might execute me if I was in if I was caught outside the base.

“No,” I said with more confidence than I felt. I glanced back along the crater wall towards base. I half expected to see security pursuing me out onto the lunar surface.

I was alone. If not for the base buried in the lunar crust nearby, it would have been easy to imagine I was alone on a lifeless landscape.
