Sulim goes to Third Tribe, where she dances with a grieving chief who has never moved on from his mother’s death.

Sonall heads to First Tribe, where his skills in gambling and charm are pivoted against a haughty chief who doesn’t care if they all live or die.

And back home in Second Tribe, Cairn holds down the fort, hoping that she and Sulim can escape in time.

That is, escape Cerilyn. Abandoning everyone they love and all those depending on them might be the only way to hold on to the only thing keeping them alive – each other.
