The Gifted World series by L. D. Valencia (#1-5)

Overview: My name is L. D. Valencia. I am a teacher by trade, as well as, an author. Writing and stories are my passion, along with teaching kids to love reading. I grew up in New York, outside the city. My father came to the US from Colombia, and he instilled in me a desire to work hard and do my best. My mother is a teacher, and part of the reason I wanted to become an educator as well. This whole process started way back when I was teaching a lesson on stories for my students. I wrote up this story for my kids, and it was used to model what story elements were. One of my students told me afterward that this story was awesome, and I should get it published. I told them they were kind, and I moved on to being a teacher. However, after some time, I decided to actually pursue this idea of writing a book. So, I have been working on this project since 2010, creating the world, superhuman agencies, and other aspects of this universe.

1. The Gifted Complex
Eighty-seven years ago, superhumans saved the world from disaster. But the golden age of heroes is over. Growing up in the shadow of superheroes, Gabriel sets off to college hoping to use his gift to help the world. However, on campus things start to turn dangerous. Will Gabriel answer the call? Allies are few. Enemies are many. What will Gabriel do when a dangerous foe hurts his friends? In the end, Gabriel is offered a chance he can’t ignore.
2. The Burns Conflict
College is hard enough without adding superpowers. Gabriel Green returns to campus with the weight of the world on his shoulders. In the wake of the scientist Dr. Drake’s betrayal, Gabriel is offered an internship with a superpowered agency. Here, he hopes to use his telekinesis to help protect the world, if he can survive his first mission, that is. As if being a college student with all the practices, essays, and relationships is not hard enough, he is tasked with finding a dangerous force hiding on campus. With deceit and misdirection hidden behind every corner, he must learn everything on the go, or everyone he cares about could be lost. What will Gabriel do when the ones who are closest to him turn their backs on him?
3. The Zero Crisis
College is hard enough without adding secret missions. Gabriel Green returns for his first real mission with the Guild. It’s just a routine mission, or at least it was supposed to be. When Gabriel and the team arrive at Dr. Drake's lab, everything seems like it will be a normal recon mission. Finally, they can start looking for clues to the Doctor's whereabouts. When two agents go missing, they realize that someone is in the lab with them. Someone or something? With this enemy inside the lab with them and no way to escape, Gabriel and his friends have to stand and fight. But can they stand up to so much power? What will Gabriel do when the success or failure of the mission is thrust upon him?
4. The Heart Paradox
College is hard enough without friends trying to kill you.Gabriel Green is back on campus. Now a senior, he is making preparations for after college. Will he join an agency and become a member of the Protectorate? He, Jake, and Serena have a lot to consider in their last year as college students. But things start to take a turn when a new kid befriends them. Titus seems like a nice guy, but he has a secret agenda. One that involves Gabriel’s demise. What will Gabriel do when Titus enacts his plan to finish Gabriel off for good? Can he survive an attack on this scale?

Graduation is hard enough without adding monsters. Gabriel Green and his friends are about to graduate from college when an explosion nearby ends their dreams of a perfect graduation. With the day in shambles, Gabriel and his friends are called upon to help in the devastation. But little do they know that things are being manipulated in the shadows. Things are not what they appear. What will Gabriel and his friends do when they must face the most powerful creatures on the planet? Will they survive when Dr. Drake makes his return?
