Overview: I wrote my first piece of fiction in third grade for a creative writing assignment. We were supposed to turn in a paragraph, I turned in thirty six pages. The teacher suggested I look into writing as a job, but the idea was ridiculous, it wasn't something people did. That's like telling someone just to win the lottery, or become a movie star.
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy
1. The Hero's Recusants - In the world of Eribeth, magic is learned by wizards, or a few lucky sorcerers are born with the gift naturally. Those were the only paths to magic, until the creation of the Akynd. These unique man-made hybrids allow the natural talent and mastery of a sorcerer, with all the versatility and adaptability of a wizard.
Keldon was the first Akynd. Being transformed against his will by a disapproving father soured him against the selfishness and evil in the world. With his newfound power, he seeks to eliminate such darkness. To do so, he gathers three allies, granting them access to his unique abilities, turning them into Akynd.
But that kind of power can lead one down some dark paths, even with the best of intentions. Each of the four keeps a close eye on the others, ensuring that they remain on a path of righteousness and avoid the corruptible influence of their power.
If Keldon is successful, the world will know a peace that is more than just a lack of war, Eribeth could become a paradise. If not, the vile selfishness will spread through all the realm, until evil is all that remains.
2. The Wizard's Requiem - Eribeth is changed. The siege of Curliko was successful, but it came at too high a cost.
Ji'leon is trying desperately to right the wrongs brought about by the destruction of Curliko. Unbeknownst to her, the piece of the puzzle she is missing resides with the child of an ancient and hidden race, the Flourie.
Taim, on the other hand, knows little of life outside the small Flourie tribe he grew up in. He has enough trouble trying to understand that life and how to fit in, let along the workings of the world at large.
While the unlikely pair walks their path towards a unified front, a familiar evil lurks, desperate to ensure they never find each other. At times, when it seems that all hope is lost, all we can do is keep looking.
3. The Child's Redemption - The battle of Curliko has left its mark on everyone, but perhaps Gabrielle most of all. While Ji'leon and Taim were dealing with their problems, she was left to face the monster she had become.
But her inner demon is a force to be reckoned with. Gabrielle is determined to ensure that she never falls to begin with, even if she needs a little time magic to make that happen.
While she wrestles with what she's done, her found family is in trouble. They may have walked away when she strayed from her path, but now they need her help. Perhaps, in saving them, she will earn redemption.
If not, then they will all die in the depths of Ulbrellis.
