Overview: The energy of the soul, given shape by fear, given form by focus, and given power by will.

Soul energy surrounds everything, generated by all things living, and strengthened by all things dead. With training, humans can learn to use their soul energy to power machines, strengthen their bodies, and protect themselves from the violence of a world mutated by the same power that drives it.

There, however, comes a time when someone special, someone with a conduit to fully interpret their own soul energy, is born.

Echoes, the bearers of souls, shift the balance of the world, using their unique abilities to become forces of nature on both sides of the scale. Some Echoes become Jägers, peacekeeping hunters who fight for the sake of others, while some Echoes do as they please with their strength, for better or worse.

But with power comes inequality, and with inequality, a balancing act begins. Threatened by an enemy bent on destroying this system of disparity between those who have and those who don't, a young Jäger cadet, average as he may be, must draw his blade and fight, not only for himself and his friends, but for his ideals.
