Overview: Daniel Raven is the most popular young man in Nilson, Texas – and that’s despite the fact that he's been in a coma for the last ten years. It seems everyone in town wants a piece of him. Kirby knows the answers to the questions surrounding Walther’s disappearance must be in the journal – but where? In his Kafkaesque dreams? With resophilia twisting his guts to find answers, and Walther’s journal to show the way, Kirby pursues the truth – both about Walther's disappearance, and what really happened to Daniel Raven the day he “fell off his bike.” In the course of his investigation, Kirby runs into all the characters you’d expect to find in a sleepy little Texas town, including a mad scientist, an evil preacher, an amnesiac witness, a fallen hero, and a broken-hearted beauty.
They all have their secrets, and Kirby can’t seem to dig up the skull of one without disinterring the thighbone of another. Eventually, even Kirby’s own dark secret will have to see the light of day – and when the sun goes down, he can only hope that Nilson's roving band of judgmental coyotes will show him mercy.
