Overview: Dawson's Web is a thriller, set in New York and Southern California. Jeffrey Dawson, the main character, is a schizophrenic serial killer, who only kills blondes that look like his stepmother. Several supporting characters are introduced early in the novel and their lives intersect with Jeff's life. Fred McCallister, a 30 year veteran of the LAPD is brought into a homicide case linked to an unknown killer. his job is to solve the case. Charlene Messenger is a wannabe actress who gets involved with a not-too-bright blackmailer, Randy Chapelle. Randy hires attractive women (like Charlene), sets them on the side of the road and lures businessmen into compromising situations. Hans Morganstern, a real estate mortgage broker under investigation by the SEC is lured into such an affair with Charlene and by so doing, she threatens to ruin his career by exposing him. Hans finds out he is blackmailed a few days after helping Charlene and attempts to locate her and stop her. He uses a long time friend, Giovanni Carlucci, a friend of his who is tied to the mob to track Charlene down. But Giovanni is too late. Charlene and Randy escape to California, where they meet several other interesting characters who are caught up in their own webs of deceit. The book is fast-paced and keeps the reader guessing to the end.
