#4 Felonies and Felines
Waresville, Florida is known for three things: its hidden away location— hence the nickname “Wheresville”— white picket fences, and witches. The latter is what keeps the little town afloat. Without all the magic shops, tour buses, and haunted houses, Waresville would consist of little more than tumbleweeds. And the townspeople are well aware of this fact, which is why no one bats an eye at any of the magical activity that litters the town. That’s just a regular day in this witchy place. But when someone starts breaking into the shops that are this town’s livelihood, every citizen is looking for a culprit to burn.
Every citizen, that is, except Harper Beck. Owner of the local disco skate, bringer of the funk, and part time witch, Harper has a nasty habit of involving herself in cases where she’s not wanted. And it usually blows up right in her face. But after a heartfelt promise to her hunky, detective boyfriend, Harper is ready to give up sleuthing forever— or at least until a really good case comes along. That is, until the Funky Wheel is broken into and things get personal. A new case coupled with moving and a new family pet have Harper’s plate overloading, but if she doesn’t stop this magical criminal in time, it may mean losing everything she’s ever cared about.

#12 The New Witch In Town
The town of Waresville can seem a little backwards to outsiders. People don’t run from what goes bump in the night; they make a profit off it. Founded by persecuted witches looking for a little respite, the town changed its status to “tourist trap” a long time ago. And God help anyone who challenges the citizen’s strange livelihood.

Holding the state track meet in this strange town seemed like a no brainer to the local spooky tour buses and magic themed restaurants. But when the games are threatened by a new witch, it becomes clear that Waresville has a lot more to lose than to gain from exposure.

In walks Harper Beck, a local witch and owner of the grooviest—and only—disco skate in town. Harper spends her nights boogying and her days sticking her finger into every pie in Waresville. When she catches wind of a new witch terrorizing the high school, she thinks she’s found her next mystery.

But matters are complicated when a newcomer rides into Waresville. Ethan, a man who’s all smiles, takes an instant interest in Harper. And not because she looked stellar in her neon, green Afro wig. If Harper isn’t careful, she might just run afoul of this dangerous stranger.

But physical danger isn’t the only threat that’s lurking in Waresville. Harper has a secret. One she can’t tell her delicious, detective husband or her sweet, book-nerd stepson.

If Harper isn’t careful, she might end up ally-less and caught in a witch hunter’s trap.

#13 Lizards and Letter Openers
It’s business as usual in Waresville. And that business is spooky.

In the town nicknamed “Wheresville”, cash is king, and cash is tragedy. With its spooky tour buses, magical themed stores, and odd happenings, this hub of supernatural activity profits off of what goes bump in the night. Meaning, those creatures have free reign of the town. For one new-coming creature, the allure of Waresville is too much to resist. Unfortunately, in a town this strange, it’s hard for a Banshee to stay out of trouble.

After a scant five minutes in Waresville, Cillian Finnegan, newcomer, Banshee, and felon, falls in with a bad crowd: Harper Beck. Notorious in Waresville for her curiosity and inability to let a mystery go, she secures the Banshee as her new sidekick just as things start to get hairy.

People are dying in Waresville. Groovy and witchy Harper stumbles across the first stabbing victim by accident, and the rest is fate. After following a sting of murders all the way back to Ireland, the new duo can only make one conclusion: everyone in their small town is in danger.

With treasure hunts, new friends, old enemies, and a lizard that likes to ride shotgun on Harper’s head, this might be the most dangerous case she’s had yet. For her and everyone around her. Because Harper’s not just battling a murderer and the clock, she’s finding her footing as an expectant mother.

#14 Campers and Spell Casters
Waresville is a tiny, hard to find town that once you find, you wish you never did. With all manner of witches, vampires, ghouls, and goblins running around, this town has earned its supernatural reputation. And its supernatural reputation is what earns it tourist revenue.

But even the citizens of Waresville have their limits on what they’ll put up with. So when a camp for troubled kids moves in, the town is in an uproar. But it’s not long until the campground becomes the site for a very Waresville-esque mystery. The kind of mystery that draws the attention of Harper Beck, amateur sleuth, amateur witch, and profession party machine. When she catches a whiff of missing campers at Camp Happy Place, she figures this is just the thing to keep her mind off of impending motherhood.

Unfortunately for Harper, this mystery is anything but typical. The kids are vicious, the counselors are hiding something, and dark forces are at work in Waresville. Keeping her distance is impossible. When the last of the counselors goes missing under Harper’s nose, she must volunteer herself and her stepson Cooper to help keep the camp open long enough for her to solve the case.

With familiar faces, a healthy dose of dangerous magic, and a whole lot of hiking, this is Harper’s most physically challenging case yet. If she can survive capture the flag, arts and crafts, and the possibly killer campers, she might be able to catch a Satanist. Will Harper find the counselors and the kidnapping culprit? Or will her new baby be motherless before its first birthday rolls around?

#15 Good Grooves and Grand Larceny
There’s a new lawman on the scene. Harper Beck: beware.

In the city of Waresville, no one is afraid of the dark. These industrious people learned a long time ago that it’s not the darkness you need to fear; it’s what’s lurking for you just inside of it.

There’s something new and unexpected prowling the streets of Waresville after dark, and the townspeople are not amused. If there are two things they can’t abide by, it’s a supernatural creature that won’t show its face for a photo op, and anything that interferes with their cold, hard cash.

The new beast on the scene checks both boxes.

Which means, of course, that the newcomer is right up Harper Beck’s alley. Harper, amateur sleuth, owner of a disco skate, and trouble magnet never met a mystery she didn’t like. That was until she met a mystery cased in metal and packed with electrical wires. If she wants to tackle this magic machinery case head on, she’s going to have to get over her technophobia.

But playing with powers outside her expertise isn’t the only obstacle facing Harper in this mystery. Because this time, the monsters are striking a little too close to home, and if she doesn’t solve the case fast, she might be kissing one of her oldest friends good-bye.

If all that weren’t enough, Harper’s just adjusting to being a new mother when a surprise visitor and an opportunity to win the money to fix up her disco skate fall into her lap. With Harper pulled in multiple directions, the really bad guy in this mystery might just seize the opportunity to take care of their Harper Beck problem.

Permanently.
