Overview: When Army Lieutenant Clay Montague embarks on Operation Just Cause in Panama in 1986, he has no idea that a single night patrol will change his life forever. Under a jungle full moon he comes face-to-face with a malevolent force as old as Creation. Attacked, gravely wounded and later lying in a military convalescence hospital, his unconscious and hysterical ramblings about a demonic evil are heard by a Catholic chaplain undergoing a personal crisis of faith. The chaplain reaches out for clarification to his old friend in the Vatican: Mustavias Cardinal Malachi. When Malachi’s inquiries generate interest and serious concern rather than ridicule, the Cardinal soon finds himself appointed leader of a covert church group. Their mission: intercept and kill a premier arch demon of hell before it succeeds in its eons-old goal of dooming humanity. With this sly evil growing stronger by the day, Cardinal Malachi devises a plan to track down the Hellspawn using recovered ex-soldier Clay Montague paired with a beautiful, but innocent novice nun with a reputed gift of second sight. Their best hope for success lies in the form of an ancient church relic and secret information from a stolen Dead Sea Scroll. As the plan unfolds, Clay soon finds himself a pawn in a holy battle as he and Sister Maria Lapierre face mortal danger complicated by murder, betrayal, and forbidden love. Ultimately, finding themselves trapped in a devil’s lair, they realize that what’s at stake isn’t merely their physical safety but their immortal souls as well
