Requirements: ePUB Reader, 1.4 MB
Overview: RG Ainslee served as a soldier on the front line of the Cold War. Trained as an ELINT specialist, he worked at sites on the East German border for the Army Security Agency during the years following the Cuban Missile Crisis. In 1973, he traveled overland from Europe to Kathmandu, passing through pre-revolutionary Iran and Afghanistan. The 1970's was the golden age of overland travel, a time when one could go in relative safety to exotic off-the-beaten-track destinations. Many of these countries soon became war zones and closed to most overland travelers. A month long, 125-mile trek, to the base of Mount Everest stimulated an interest in mountaineering and back-country adventures. He has trekked beyond 5,000 meters in Nepal, Kenya, and Mexico. In 1977, he set off from London on a four-month overland journey across Africa. He crossed the Sahara and rain forests of Central Africa on the way to Kenya. Along the way, he visited soon-to-be hot spots, such as Algeria, Niger, the Central African Republic, eastern Zaire (Now the Democratic Republic of the Congo), and Rwanda.
Genre: Thriller

1. The Latakia Intercept
September 1973: Electronic Intelligence Analyst Sergeant Ross Brannan thought he had it made, only three months to go on his enlistment. Fed up with the Army, the prospect of a civilian job in Arizona is the answer to his dreams. A puzzling assignment to an airbase in Turkey unravels his plans.
The mystery heightens when it appears an old CIA acquaintance is directing the operation. The mission: monitor Soviet naval activity in the Eastern Mediterranean. The web of intrigue expands when a notorious shadow warrior of the Cold War arrives on the scene.
Undaunted, all Ross wants to do is run out the clock on his enlistment. The Egyptians and Syrians have other ideas. The Yom Kippur War erupts. A spiral of external danger and internal intrigue entangles Ross in a treacherous scheme that threatens his future.
3. The Iranian Intercept
Rogue scientist J. Andrew Marsden escapes from prison in Mexico. NSA sends Ross to Nepal to interview a woman who may have worked with Marsden on a ground-breaking air defense concept. The trip was sold to Ross as a routine mission, in and out. But he knows he's Yoyo, like in you're-on-your-own. What could go wrong?
She reveals the Russian's will start a new series of air defense rocket tests involving the Sary-Shagan test facilities. Operators at Site T-2, in the mountains of northern Iran, intercepted a signal from the facility last year. It was suspiciously like Marsden's work. Is he working for them again? One way to find out — send Ross and the Raven-1 team to Iran. One problem: Iran is on the brink of revolution.
All hell breaks loose as the Iranian Revolution heats up. Ross and the Raven-One Team rush to the top-secret site on the Soviet border with Iran. Time is running out. But things are about to get worse, the Soviets have learned of his mission, and will stop at nothing to hunt him down.
4. The Caspian Intercept
When an Iranian technician reveals the existence of an unknown intercept tape, the Raven-One team is sent back to Tehran. But things are about to get worse, radicals take over the American embassy.
A powerful enemy reemerges and seeks to stop the team in their tracks. Raven-One team operative Jack Richards is taken hostage and Amadeo Ruiz is forced to navigate through the chaos and barely escapes capture. Follow Amadeo as he flees through northern Iran with an enigmatic Italian woman. Who does she really work for?
5. The Sahara Intercept
1980: Ross Brannan is back and out for revenge — determined to hunt down the traitor, J. Andrew Marsden — at any cost. The Škorpion Brigade, a band of German terrorists, teams up with Libyan Dictator Gadhafi and rogue ex-CIA operatives in an explosive plot to obtain nuclear materials.
Marsden is rumored to be in Libya. Ross and a multi-national team are dispatched to find Marsden's base of operations. In an instant the mission is compromised, and Ross is propelled on a roller-coaster ride across Africa.
