Crew aboard the fictional Coral Queen find themselves stretched to the limit by the antics of a Queen tribute act, a troublesome stag party and a group of excitable female cheerleaders. Rachel is accompanying Lady Marjorie on a cruise around the Baltics. The older woman is hoping for a mystery while Rachel seeks peace and quiet. PC Rachel Prince, cruise ship sleuth can't believe it when a man dies under suspicious circumstances. The probable homicide occurs shortly after an unpleasant encounter with a Freddie Mercury lookalike. Rachel and Marjorie find themselves absorbed by the man's untimely death, and surrounded by suspicious characters with ample motive for killing the unpopular victim.
The Chief of Security wavers between involving Rachel in the investigation and keeping her away from it. Sarah, Rachel's best friend and cruise ship nurse is keen to keep her out of harms way, but it's a case of the irresistible force meets the immovable object when there's a mystery to be solved. Rachel is spurred on by the incorrigible Marjorie who is keen to interfere and test her own sleuthing skills. Chief Waverley and Sarah are fighting a losing battle, and become more and more exasperated by Rachel's involvement. In addition to this they both have problems of their own. As the dead man appeared to have more enemies than friends, this mystery tests Rachel to the limit. She finds herself in danger as she tries to keep Lady Marjorie safe while solving the crime.

Convinced there won't be any murders on this cruise, the incorrigible Lady Marjorie books the two of them on an event involving a series of murder mystery dinner parties hosted by Murder Mystery Creations. All is not what it seems within the mismatched cast nor within the group of guests attempting to solve an imaginary crime. When a member of the cast winds up dead, Rachel and Marjorie join forces once again to track down a cunning murderer who seems intent on removing anyone who stands in their way.
Rachel's questioning provokes reactions even she didn't see coming with dire consequences. Can she and Marjorie find out who is responsible for killing the actor and prevent any further deaths?

Rachel discovers a crew under pressure. With Waverley threatening to lose control and a health and safety chief on the warpath, it's hard to know what's coming next. Not only is Waverley worried about what the saboteur will do next, he's received a spate of personal threats.
When Rachel's new boss is found dead it appears the saboteur has upped the ante. Buried beneath lies, suspects and conflicting evidence, Rachel struggles to unravel a complex web of deceit. As she works undercover, Rachel finds herself isolated and under attack.
