Newly unemployed teacher Mary Malone never suspected she would become a Miss Marple wannabe when she and her recently widowed aunt decide to sublet her private investigator brother's apartment in the Foley complex near downtown Minneapolis. After having listened to a message intended for the PI's ears only, Mary is determined to solve what sounds like an easy case for Reed Griffin, owner of the Bar X Ranch, and soon finds herself not only facing down her demons from childhood fear of horses but also being surrounded by two deaths and three very deceiving men."
#2 - Death of the Naked Lady
All Mary Malone wanted to do when she arrived at Cousin Lizzie’s apartment up north was have fun with her two companions, Aunt Zoe and Margaret Grimshaw, and do research a for a novel she’d recently begun writing. Is that too much to ask?
Instead, a twist of fate, thanks to her elderly cousin’s post-operative stay at the Shoolinger Nursing Facility in Duluth and her friendship with Nurse Meredith Hawthorne, forces the thirty-something woman to rethink plans to shelf her short-lived amateur sleuthing career.
But taking on a case involving the death of young UMD coed, Darcy Hawthorne, soon proves to be a daunting task for the unemployed teacher when the deceased girl’s close contacts come crawling out of the woodwork, one by one, and our heroine begins to wonder if there’s anyone in this town she can truly trust: Zack, the ex-boyfriend; Roommate Trudy Almquist; Darcy’s mysterious new boyfriend; and even Officer Trevor Fitzwell.
Mary almost lost her life on her first case this past summer. Will there be a repeat performance with the second in Death of the Naked Lady?
