Overview:Hi! I'm Bud Craig, a British crime writer and member of the Crime Writers Association. Though born and bred in the city of Salford near Manchester I have lived for many years in a village near Darlington in the North East of England. My books in a series about a Salford private eye, Gus Keane, were published in 2013, 2014 2015 and 2020 by The Book Folks (TBF). In September 2016 TBF published SALFORD MURDERS, the Gus Keane trilogy. SALFORD MURDERS has since become a best seller and is now published by TBF as a paperback. Thanks to everyone who has bought my books. HIGH PROFILE, my short story collection, was published in May 2017 by TBF. It includes some of the stories described below. In 2019 TBF published A DANGEROUS TIME, a mystery set in the North East of England. In 2020 MAKING A KILLING, the latest Gus Keane book, was published. STEALING TIME, the fifth Gus Keane novel, was published in January 2021.

4. Making a Killing
A private detective’s investigation into an affair hots up when the suspect is murdered.
When a fight breaks out at a Boxing Day fancy dress party, attendee Gus Keane puts the fracas down to festive exuberance and too much booze, and thinks little more of the matter.
However, when Jerry Duckworth, one of combatants, later gets in touch and asks Keane for his services as a private investigator, it is soon apparent there was more to it.
Duckworth suspects financial advisor Adam Jennings is having an affair with his wife. Keane is tasked with following him, and finding evidence of his infidelity. But Jennings has a whole lot more to hide than an amorous liaison.
Unfortunately, the investigation into Jennings leads to complications. Not least when the latter is found murdered in his home. Gus Keane must get to the bottom of a case involving infidelity, shady business deals, and a man who is leading a double life.
5. Stealing Time
The PI tackles his most difficult case yet...
Private Investigator Gus Keane is enjoying the quiet life when two events transpire to disrupt the peace. A man turns up on his doorstep claiming to be his half-brother, and a body is found in a local Salford street.
Suddenly having to question his family history, Keane arranges a DNA test pretty damn quick. Not least because his new-found brother seems very much involved in the criminal fraternity.
Meanwhile, through an acquaintance, Keane gets involved in the case of the dead man. Helping the police establish his identity, he draws a blank when it comes to the motive for the killing.
Despite his in-depth local knowledge, Keane feels increasingly out of his depth, worried that he’s lost his touch...
