Overview: The relationship between Seymour Capital, a talented but lazy artist, and his ambitious wife Polly, is in trouble. Polly reluctantly works to support them both, a doomed arrangement she had instigated to enable Seymour to prepare for an exhibition that never materialised.

Things change when Polly walks in on an armed hold-up masterminded by an amateur, bungling gang. Polly is taken hostage but manages to escape in the getaway car containing the stolen money.
