Genre: Mystery/Thriller

1. Star Light Star Bright - Carla Mattucci and her two sidekicks know all too well that the world of Hollywood is populated with eccentrics, divas, charmers…and probably plenty of delightful, talented people. It’s just that the delightful Hollywood folks rarely seem to need the services of private investigators. Fortunately, kind, generous Carla doesn’t suffer fools gladly—a vital characteristic for someone in her line of work. And she never leaves her Perry Mason-esque office without the things she considers her Must Haves to do her job: Disguises. Her Nonna’s 1920’s Beretta. And a very large bottle of aspirin.
When a popular rom-com actress hires PI Carla Mattucci to find the person blackmailing her, Carla is shocked when the actress confesses that her career has been built on a lie. A lie the blackmailer knows all about. And a lie that the whole world would know about if she took her case to the police, making that option out of the question. The clock is ticking for Carla to find the culprit. The blackmailer has been clear—pay up by the deadline or the world will know the secret that could end the actress’s career. The ticking clock isn’t helped much when Carla’s number one suspect ends up murdered. And her client becomes the police’s prime suspect.
Of course, this case isn’t the only thing on Carla’s plate. She also has a dying client—a Hollywood legend—who’s own secret requires a special, discreet service that Mattucci Private Investigations offers. And at home, Carla has to deal with her seventy-two-year-old mother whose goal in life is to hang ten out in the surf with her new surfer buddies. Her Ma has Carla considering buying stock in the aspirin industry.
2. Star Struck - When an actor fails to show up for the first day of filming, the film’s director hires LA private eye Carla Mattucci to find the missing actor. A straightforward case soon turns perplexing as Carla chases leads that take her to some of the oddest places. And the clock is ticking. She insists that she will only search for the missing man for forty-eight hours, then she’ll turn the case over to the police, something her client would like to avoid.
Desert communes, giant dinosaur statues, aging hippies, and evil clowns are all in a day’s work on this case. Not to mention her concussed surfer mother who must stay glued to Carla for two days. Doctor’s orders.
3. Written In The Stars - As an LA Private Eye with a celebrity clientele, Carla Mattucci finds herself juggling some unusually challenging cases, from the woo-woo TV psychic who is being sued for a fortune-telling gone wrong, to the famous screenwriter who has lost her mojo and is now suspected of murdering her ghostwriter. To top it all off, there’s the man who dies before Carla can remove troublesome documents from his home.
And, the week only gets better when her eccentric mother starts dating a surfing Santa Claus. Once again, Carla is reaching for the aspirin.
