Johnny (Fells Point Investigator #1):
Leona Parker, a young woman in Baltimore, Maryland wakes to find herself in an unknown apartment covered in blood, next to a dead man also covered in blood. Leona hopes the police can pinpoint her location through her cell phone signal. When they arrive, she tells the officers she has never met dead man, and she cannot remember the previous night. The only thing she can recall is that she met a friend for a drink after work. The police drive Leona to the hospital for a medical examination to determine if she was the victim of rape and obtain bloods tests for drug and alcohol levels. While the doctor examines Leona, the police obtain the tenant’s name and find the young woman in the trunk of her own car parked down the street from the apartment. Forensics find Leona’s fingerprints on the knife that killed Jason Blockhart, the victim found next to her in bed, and the interior of the late Ms. Daughterly’s vehicle.
Alison (Fells Point Investigator #2):
Private Investigator Sam Marksman left his job with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, to strike out on his own; preferring to choose the cases he investigates. He’s a single man and lives on a sail boat which also serves as his office.
Sam’s simple life turns upside down after a casual November sail with Leona Parker. While investigating three separate cases, he finds himself thinking of her more than he’d care to admit.
An attorney in Baltimore requests Sam’s services to uncover the person or persons involved with forging a will. Sam leaves the forgery case open to investigate a missing child in Portland, Oregon. Private Investigator Sam Marksman left the Federal Bureau of Investigation to create his investigative agency. His skill and technique in assisting federal, state and local law enforcement agencies as well as private citizens spreads far and wide across the nation. Investigator Marksman takes on a Social Security Fraud investigation collaborating with Secret Service Agent Melanie Gibson. Agent Gibson misconstrues that she heard and believes that Marksman made intimate advances toward her. The Federal Bureau of Investigation requests Marksman's services to uncover the person or persons laundering money by intimidation through small casinos in Las Vegas. The investigation requires that he work undercover with Special Agent Cassandra Henson posing as a married couple. The Cattlemen's Association in Austin, Texas contact Marksman to reveal the person or persons responsible for bull semen contamination. Marksman worries that his traveling puts stress on his relationship with Leona Parker.
Cassandra (Fells Point Investigator #4):
Joseph Schuman, Director of the Boston Federal Bureau of Investigation Office, assigns his agent, Cassandra Henson to work undercover on a money laundering investigation in the Atlantic City, New Jersey casinos. He tells her that her partner in the investigation is Agent Bruce Grossman of the Portland, Oregon Office. Agent Henson becomes suspicious of her partner’s behavior on first day of the investigation. Her new partner makes inappropriate remarks and advances, increasing her suspicions. She compromises her cover and provides a casino owner with her true identity and contact information for Private Investigator Sam Marksman in Baltimore, Maryland. Private Investigator Sam Marksman and his fiancée, Leona Parker, have plans to wed on Sam’s boat, Irish Crème. They work together to prepare the boat for the ceremony when Investigator Marksman receives a call from the Chariot Casino’s owner informing him that Agent Henson is missing. Sam Marksman and his fiancée immediately postpone their wedding to search for Cassie Henson.
Ian (Fells Point Investigator #11):
The citizens of Stone Haven, Scotland paid for Ian Macgill’s tuition to attend the University of Maryland School of Medicine because he would need to replace Old Doc Balderston. Ian is an upbeat gentle giant. He takes a part time job at Pickles Pub and volunteers his time at the University of Maryland Medical Center.Before his first class, Ian is brutally murdered. His body is recovered at the foot of a parking lot once the flood waters of the Jones Falls River subside. Investigators work to find his murderer.
