The Christians Cross Cosy Paranormals by Tia Brown (#1-9)
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 3.8 MB
Overview: A cosy vampire mystery series set in an idyllic Dorset village with witch hunters, nixies, a werecat and a vicar who’s far more than he’s trying to seem. Please ignore the publicity because vampires aren’t all bad. Nor are all humans or all anything else, but when they are, it’s up to Kit Conway and her unlikely team to sort it out because otherwise it really could be the end of the world. After all, what’s the unlikeliest place you can think of for the site of the final battle between good and evil?
Genre: Fiction > Mystery/Thriller Cozy, Christian, Paranormal

Bloody Murder (#1)
Virtuous vampire, writer and private investigator Kit Conway returns to her home village of Christians Cross when she is called to investigate a series of murders in the paranormal community. Unfortunately, she arrives to find her employer, the fairy Desdemona, dead in a cupboard of her temporary home.
Aided by her partner, the werecat Handsome, she not only has to find the murderer before he adds her to the list of victims but begin to come to terms with her past; which doesn’t seem to want to stay in the past any more. Suspecting the handsome Detective Inspector O'Donnell of being at least a witch hunter and quite possibly a murderer doesn't make things any easier, especially when they find and manage to save the latest victim.
The village is used to policing itself and resents incomers; inlcuding her, and the pub landlady is a vengeful river spirit, so this is pretty high on the list of jobs that Kit wishes she'd never taken.
Devil to Pay (#2)
Virtuous vampire, writer and private investigator Kit Conway is up against her most dangerous enemy yet. At first she thinks her greatest trouble is her absentee kitchen fitter. Then he’s murdered horribly and all hell literally starts breaking loose in the allegedly peaceful Dorset village of Christians Cross where outsiders never seem to notice that anything strange is happening.
Can she and her partner, the werecat Handsome and her friends the ancient vampire Nico De Sauveterre and the witchfinder who doesn’t want to be one, Chief Inspector Marcus O’Donnell save the world? And how will O’Donnell cope with discovering that his beloved younger sister is not only coming into her powers as a witch but falling in love with a werecat without knowing about his dual identity?
The Missing Maiden (#3)
Fading star Quentin Phipps is drawn to the apparently idyllic English village of Christians Cross to make a TV show about his attempts to renovate an abandoned house. Unfortunately for him, neither the village nor the house wants him there, any more than anyone seems to want virtuous vampire Kit Conway any more. So no one seems that bothered when he dies horribly just after he asks Kit to help him because he's convinced that someone's out to destroy him.
Add to the mix a Detective Sergeant with designs on her witchhunter friend Detective Chief !nspector O’Donnell, a new vicar that Kit's increasingly sure if far more than he trying to seem, a werecat who’s been called to Christians Cross to lead a team to protect the world and is in love with a newly emerged witch and a murderous standing stone and it’s going to be a bad few weeks even by Kit’s standards.
Time's Veil (#4)
Things ought to be settling down for virtuous vampire Kit Conway, and her werecat and Grail Knight Handsome, aka Phil Jones who’s now a cat from dawn to dusk, and then a human during the hours of darkness. Okay, their job is to guard the transition point between realities and hell that explains why the apparently quaint and sleepy little Dorset village of Christians Cross has a far larger than usual number of inhabitants who are doing their best to pass as human but everyone deserves a break sometimes, don't they?
They may deserve one, but they're not getting one, because the enthusiastic Civil War reconstructor and pain in the backside to any authority he can find Paul Masters buys the Manor House to run as a reconstruction centre. He's not welcomed with open arms, and a few weeks later a local poacher is shot with a flintlock pistol. The village of Christians Cross is angry, and out for vengeance so things aren't going well even if you try to ignore the timeslips that leave Kit feeling that her past is coming back to have another go at killing her.
Can Kit and her unlikely team of friends and heroes find the killer, stop any more killings, keep the peace between the Manor and the Village and sort out the timeslips? And what will happen if they can’t?
Nature Strikes Back (#5)
Welcome to the apparently idyllic Dorset village of Christians Cross. It still has shops and a pub and a thriving village school. The Vicar is doing a brilliant job; which, after all, is what you'd expect to happen if the Archangel Michael had taken human form. Nor is he the strangest thing about a village that's set on an intersection point between our world, hell and alternate realities and where a lot of the inhabitants are trying to seem human, but aren't.
Virtuous vampire private investigator and writer Kit Conway and her werecat partner, the Grail Knight Phil Jones (aka Handsome when he's a cat) have been drawn back there along with a band of unlikely heroes to defend the world, and they're back in business when a New Age group move into the grounds at Crosshayes Manor just as it’s preparing to open as an activity centre for disabled children. They claim that they only want to worship their gods in peace, but in Christians Cross, that means the gods are likely to return and that doesn’t suit the vicar or the local barmaid, who’s also a sometimes homicidal river spirit.
Add to that an equally vindictive hedge spirit who curses the witch hunter policeman Detective Cheif Inspector O’Donnell with Tech Knowledgy when he refuses to bow down and worship him and it’s safe to say that Kit, Handsome and the rest of the gang are in trouble again. Still, at least O'Donnell's got a new sidekick, and nothing can go wrong there, can it?
No Greater Love (#6)
Virtuous vampire and occasional private investigator Kit Conway lives in the apparently idyllic Dorset village of Christians Cross with her apparently normal cat Handsome, who, quite normally for Christians Cross, happens to be human between dusk and dawn. He’s also the Grail Knight who’s been assigned to lead an unlikely team while they protect the world. That’s not an exaggeration because Christians Cross was built on a crossing point between our earth, a lot of other dimensions, and hell. So it’s only fair to assume that anything can happen and, unfortunately for Kit and her friends, it all too often does.
How has Simon Smith appeared, apparently out of nowhere? What’s going on at Crosshayes Manor, both now and during the Second World War, and why are anti-terrorism police officers so interested in a break-in there? Kit makes new friends, including a white deer who is far, far more than he seems while she and the others tackle a weapon that’s so powerful that it has to be destroyed; no matter what it wants.
Mistletoe and Mischief (#7)
Christmas is coming to the apparently idyllic Dorset village of Christians Cross. It’s the season of goodwill to all, and as picture-perfect as you’d expect Christmas to be in a village where most of the population is not exactly human and where a group of unlikely heroes have been called to guard the gateway to hell and other dimensions.
Can virtuous vampire Kit Conway, her friend Handsome the were cat Grail Knight and the rest of the team tackle the spirit of Misrule, rescue a man who’s been trapped in another dimension and save a man who doesn’t deserve it when the fight between the Oak and Holly Kings turn real?
As usual, the stakes are high; but this time they’ve got to get ready for Christmas as well.
The Sword and the Stone (#8)
Virtuous vampire Kit Conway, the werecat Handsome (also known as Phil Jones when he’s in human form) and the rest of the unlikely group that’s been tasked to keep the crossing point between dimensions that’s situated in the gorgeous English village of Christians Cross are in trouble again.
This time, it’s the Holy Grail and the Grail Sword that guards it, and the sword is taking people over as it looks for the right person to wield it and save not only England but the whole world. Add to that time slips, a class of eight year olds being taken hostage and the fact that the Archangel Michael, who’s currently in human form as the Reverend Michael Templar, and the river goddess who runs the local pub aren’t allowed to help them and it seems pretty safe to assume that things are going from bad to worse to potential end of the world as we know it time again.
Away with the Faeries (#9)
Virtuous vampire Kit Conway, Grail Knight Handsome the werecat, O’Donnell the witch-hunting cop and the rest of the paranormal posse have been summoned to defend the beautiful English village of Christians Cross because it lies on a transition point between the worlds and is guarded by the Holy Grail.
So it’s not too much of a surprise when a young faerie princess is found in the pub car park. She fled a rival clan and is now stuck on our Earth until Kit and co can find a way to get her home. Luckily, young police officer Caroline Blake is on hand to mother her, and she and Davey Marrak are finally admitting that they’re in love, just as the Holy Grail prophesied, so the future is back on track.
Until, that is, Caroline is kidnapped just as they manage to get Pearl home. Can Kit and the team recover her and foil an old enemy with the help of old friends? That’s right, it’s just another week in Christians Cross!
