Requirements: ePub Reader, Mobi Reader, 4.8 - 3 MB
Overview: Len Deighton was born in London in 1929. He worked as a railway clerk before doing his National Service as a photographer attached to the Special Investigation Branch. After his discharge in 1949, he went to art school- first to the St Martin's School of Art, and then to the Royal College of Art on a Scholarship. It was a while working as a waiter in the evenings that he developed an interest in cookery - a subject he was later to make his own in an animated strip for the Observer and in two cookery books. He worked for a while as an illustrator in New York and as art director of an advertising agency in London.
Deciding it was time to settle down, Deighton moved to the Dordogne where he started work on his first book, The Ipcress File. Published in 1962, the book was an immediate and spectacular success.
Genre: Mystery/Spy Thriller

The Ipcress File: The nameless narrator is transferred from British Military Intelligence to a civilian department known as WOOC(P), and an apparently straightforward operation to trace a missing biochemist leads him to confront a massive conspiracy.
Horse Under Water: A thriller involving skin-diving, drug-trafficking and blackmail. The dead hand of a long-defeated Hitler-Germany reaches out to Portugal, London and Marrakesh and to all the neo-Nazis of modern Europe.
Funeral in Berlin: In Berlin, where neither side of the wall is safe, Colonel Stok of Red Army Security is prepared to sell an important Russian scientist to the West - for a price. British intelligence are willing to pay, providing their own top secret agent is in Berlin to act as go-between. But it soon becomes apparent that behind the facade of an elaborate mock funeral lies a game of deadly manoeuvres and ruthless tactics. A game in which the blood-stained legacy of Nazi Germany is enmeshed in the intricate moves of cold war espionage.
The Billion Dollar Brain: In this thriller featuring anti-hero Harry Palmer, a crazy millionaire threatens world security when he decides to wage his own private Cold War.
Spy Story: From the secretive computerized college of war studies in London, via a bleak, sinister Scottish redoubt, to the Arctic ice-cap where nuclear submarines prowl ominously beneath frozen wastes, a lethal web of violence and double-cross is woven. And Europe's whole future hangs by a deadly thread.
Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Spy (aka Catch a Falling Spy): A Russian scientist defects, believing that in the West he will more easily realize his dream of contacting planets in outer space. But British Intelligence and the CIA have more worldly plans for him and move quickly and relentlessly, leaving behind a trail of blood across three continents.
