The Harbingers of Light series by Travis Simmons (1-3)
Requirements: Epub Reader, 821 KB
Overview: Travis Simmons was kicked out of magic school because he enjoyed mundane habits like canning and cooking instead of using spells. Forced to travel the world selling his sword and (often defunct) sorcery, he stumbled upon a pack of normal dogs that he mistook for magical animals and imagined he could communicate with them. Still, they enjoyed the pizza he would toss their way, and they adopted him

1. A Plague of Shadows
Enter the world of O, where a plague of shadows creeps through the land, ensnaring those it infects and turning them into soulless shadow people damned to pollute all of the nine worlds along the world tree. Fear of these darklings, and the magic they possess drives people to kill those that appear different or go against the light.
At nineteen Abagail Bauer should be setting off on her own, not still caring for her father and her family home as she’s doing. The hard life has made her practical, and she has little time for flights of fancy, unlike her sister, Leona, who insists her doll can predict the future. That all changes one day. While tending their bees she encounters a blackness spreading through the hive. Abagail knows what it is: the shadow plague, the sickness that will creep into ones soul and make them nothing more than a shadow, a darkling bent on the destruction of all things good. And now she’s caught it. She doesn’t believe in other worlds outside of the land of O, but when her father finds out she’s infected he decides to send her to the one person who can help her learn to control this weird power: her Aunt Mattelyn in a distant world called Agaranth, and for Abagail everything she’s believed to be myth becomes a staggering reality.
Joined by her neighbor, Rorick Keuper, on a quest of revenge against the darklings who destroyed his home, and her seer sister, Leona, Abagail sets off across the rainbow bridge to another world in hopes of curing herself of the plague. But Abagail finds that her infection is only the beginning of her ill fate. When she arrives in the new world, she’s far from where she needs to be. Braving the winter of this new land, along with the darklings that hunt her, will Abagail be able to find her aunt before the shadow consumes her, or is she destined to become a husk of who she once was and kill those she loves?

2. The Darkling Tide
Abagail has caught the shadow plague a sickness that creeps into the soul of those it infects to make them nothing more than a shadow, a darkling bent on the destruction of all things good. Joined by her neighbor, Rorick Kueper, on a quest of revenge against the darklings who destroyed his home, and her seer sister Leona, Abagail crossed the Rainbow Bridge and entered the world of Agaranth. She was supposed to find sanctuary against the shadow plague there, and a way to control it. What she found was a world overwhelmed by darklings and her hope of containing the plague leagues away.
In New Landanten, the dark elves plot a way to free the nine worlds of the darkling tide, but at what cost? Some think igniting the sun and moon scepters in the nearby Fay Forest, where the veil between the worlds is thinnest, will destroy all of mankind. Others argue there's no other option. But the light elf Celeste is concerned. The only way to open a scepter is with the blood of a harbinger that hasn't yet been claimed by either light or darkness.
Meanwhile the dark elf Daniken, Celeste's sister, is helping Abagail and her troupe through the Fay Forest and to the harbinger settlement; the only place where Abagail can learn to control the shadow plague overtaking her body and threatening to make her a mindless darkling. But they come face to face with the evil of the darkling tide, and their struggle demands Abagail use more of the magical force of her darkling wyrd to protect them. Will she learn to control the force of the shadow plague on her own, or will she be lost to the darkness?

3. A Lament of Moonlight
They say the shadow plague comes at night, carried into the realms by mindless darklings. They feed on innocence. They spread their plague of shadows through the land. They say there’s no cure for the shadow plague, except burning in the sacred fires.
Since catching the shadow plague, Abagail Bauer is in danger of becoming a mindless darkling bent on the destruction of everything good and pure in the nine worlds. Joined by her sister who can divine the future and her neighbor Rorick Kueper, Abagail sets off across the Rainbow Bridge for help in learning to control the darkling magic poisoning her.
Hunted by darklings, Abagail and her crew flee toward the Frozen North, the home of the frost giants. Will the harbingers of light rescue Abagail before the darklings overcome her group? Will she finally learn to control the sorcery of the shadow plague, or is she destined to become that which she fears most: a darkling?
