The Girl Who Woke the Dragons by John Zakour
Requirements: .ePUB Reader, 284 KB
Overview: Ebby was different than other dwarf teens. Her nose was too small, she hardly had any facial or knuckle hair plus she barely had any extra meat or girth to her. The other dwarves found her to be quite unappealing (and that was being polite.) To complicate matters Ebby didn’t like mining or jewel crafting like other dwarves. Instead she preferred to spend her time reading and studying lore and other languages and even mushrooms. Her mother hoped she would grow out of this. Her father did his best to make excuses for her. To get away Ebby would travel deep into the caves to explore. One day, while extra sad, Ebby travels deeper in the caverns than ever before. Ebby discovers an insomniac dragon named Boshazzwharash, Bo for short.

Ebby’s interest in and gift with languages allows her to communicate Bo. The two are both fascinated and scared of each other. (Admittedly Ebby is more scared than Bo, who is mostly scared he may slip and eat her.) Ebby sneaks back day after day to visit Bo. The two start to become close friends. Bo tells Ebby how it weird he doesn’t sense any of his sleeping kin nearby. Ebby learns that some of her people have been killing the sleeping dragons for their meet. Ebby makes it her duty to save the dragons by awakening them so they can escape. Ebby to wake the dragons either before they are wiped out or awaken on their own and decide to destroy the dwarves… Can Ebby succeed in making the dangerous journey and saving the dragons from extinction and her people from a bloody war?
