Overview: I'm Adria Carmichael, author of dystopian young adult suspense fiction since 2017, and have just published the first book in the Juche series. I have always been a fan of dystopian and post-apocalyptic stories, so it was the natural choice when I started to write myself.

Just when Areum, daughter of an elite family in the totalitarian state of Choson, thought that she was finally free from her personal prison, her whole world collapses around her as she and her family are taken away in the middle of the night to a hell-like place up in the mountains, where lost souls are rumored to be tormented by vicious demons.
1. Part One: The Demon of Yodok
There she has to fight for survival, at the same time as she is forced to reevaluate every aspect of her life until now - her deep resentment toward her twin sister; her view of her father in face of the mounting evidence that he in fact is a traitor who has the blood of millions of fellow countrymen on his hands; and even her affection for the Great General - the eternal savior and protector of Choson, whom she had always considered to be her true father.
2. Part Two: The Sufferings of the Strayed
There she has to fight for survival, at the same time as she is forced to reevaluate every aspect of her life until now - her deep resentment toward her twin sister; her view of her father in face of the mounting evidence that he in fact is a traitor who has the blood of millions of fellow countrymen on his hands; and even her affection for the Great General - the eternal savior and protector of Choson, whom she had always considered to be her true father.
3. Part Three: The Weeping Masses
Just when Areum, daughter of a privileged family in the totalitarian state of Choson, thought she was free from her personal prison, her world collapses around her as her family is taken away in the middle of the night to a hell-like camp in the mountains where people who have strayed from the righteous path are brutally re-educated through blood, sweat, tears and starvation.
There she has to fight for survival together with the family she hates and is forced to re-evaluate every aspect of her life until then: her deep resentment toward her twin sister; her view of her father in the face of mounting evidence that he is a traitor with the blood of millions of fellow countrymen on his hands; and even her love and affection for the Great General - the eternal savior and protector of Choson, whom she had always considered her true father.
