Hugo Dare series by David Codd (#1-5)

Overview: David Codd was born (obviously) in a hospital some time in the late 1970’s. Even then, as a small and smelly baby, he was a massive disappointment to his parents (a trend that has continued into later life with pretty much everyone he has ever come into contact with). Fast forward forty odd years and he’s married (somehow) to a beautiful wife with two wonderful children (you have to write that; it’s the law). All three try to live the best life they can whilst ignoring him at every available opportunity. I don’t blame them. I would do too, but I’m not allowed. Worst luck.

Meet Hugo Dare. Schoolboy turned super spy. Both foolishly dangerous and dangerously foolish.
Thirteen year old Hugo’s life is turned upside down when his weekend job as a toilet boy in secret organisation, SICK, is unexpectedly upgraded eight levels to that of a spy. His first assignment - to go deep undercover with Agent One and assist him in any way he can.
Sounds simple, right? Wrong. Very wrong.
A robbery at the Bottle Bank. Diamond smuggling at the Pearly Gates Cemetery. The theft of priceless artifact, Coocamba’s Idol. Hugo is there on each and every occasion, but then so too is someone else.Wrinkles, the town of Crooked Elbow’s oldest criminal mastermind.
In a battle of good versus evil, young versus old, ugly versus even uglier, there can only be one winner ... and it better be Hugo otherwise we're all in trouble!

Get in. Rescue the girl. Get out. Simple, right? Unfortunately not ...
Schoolboy turned super spy Hugo Dare is back and this time he's going where others fear to tread! No, not barefoot through a puddle of cat sick. This is much, much worse than that.
Maya, the Mayor of Crooked Elbow's daughter, is being held captive in one of the most dangerous places known to mankind. Elbow's End.
Populated by rogues and wrong 'uns of the lowest order, only one spy can find Maya and get her out of there in one piece. Unfortunately, that spy is busy flossing their nostrils so it's left to someone else. And that someone else is Hugo!
3. The Day Of The Rascal
One day. One Rascal. A whole lot of trouble.
Schoolboy-turned-super spy Hugo Dare is back. That’s the good news. The bad news is he’s faced with his most perilous mission yet. We’ll come to that in a moment …
The Day of the Rascal. A day when the whole of Crooked Elbow falls foul to the devilish antics of one devious little delinquent. This year, however, the Rascal has turned the screw. No more childish pranks and elaborate stunts for him. No, this year he plans to take out the Chief of SICK … and I don’t mean for dinner! He wants to finish him off. Eliminate, eradicate and exterminate. RIP the Big Cheese.
Hugo is soon on the case. His instructions are simple. Stop the Rascal before it’s too late. Easy-peasy. With any luck he might even be home in time for breakfast.
If only that was true …
4. The Hunt for Hugo Dare
Nobody can run forever ...
Schoolboy-turned-super-spy Hugo Dare is used to danger. He lives it every day. Morning, noon and night. Some might even say it’s his middle name (that’s ridiculous. Who would ever say that?) This time, however, things are more dangerous than ever.
Pursued at every turn by a wretched pack of undesirables, Hugo must use all his skills to shake them off and, ultimately, stay alive. It’s anything but easy, though, and with the grim and grisly streets of Crooked Elbow no longer safe, where can he go when everywhere spells trouble (not literally)? Who can he trust when he can’t even trust himself (that’s probably not true either)? And will he ever get the chance to ditch his school uniform for something a little more sophisticated (I’m guessing he will)?
The Hunt for Hugo Dare has begun … and only one young spy can make sure it doesn’t end in disaster!
5. Escape From Odd Island
The only thing stranger than Odd Island are the people who live on it …
Children are going missing. Lots of children. Nineteen in total. One more, however, will hopefully put a stop to it once and for all. Especially if that one more is schoolboy turned super spy, Hugo Dare.
Snatched off the streets of Crooked Elbow, Hugo finds himself slap-bang in the middle of the unknown. A mysterious location that nobody has ever heard of.
Odd Island, the home of the curiously creepy Ebenezer Odd and his silently violent companion, Norman. Hugo’s mission – track down the missing children and get them home safely. There’s just one problem.
How can you escape from an island that doesn’t even exist?
