Has anyone had trouble with ibooks?

I recently upgraded from an ipad 2 to an ipad air 2. I was forced to upgrade to iOS 8.4.1. I had a huge collection of .epub books that I have collected from this site and others on ipad 2 that I read in ibooks. When I upgraded to ipad air 2, apart from the fact that no matter how i tried to sync the books did not transfer, when I manually added books to ibooks, they appeared with no coverpages on the library page.

Has anyone had this problem, and if so, how do you fix it ?!?!?!

I don't sync. Found the process far more complicated than necessary. Instead, any books I want to add to iBooks (or the Marvin app, which I like even better), I copy to my Dropbox account. Then I open Dropbox on the iPad, click the file I want, and then options come up for selecting in which app I want to open the file - iBooks and Marvin.
