The books that I bought last week at Amazon have a problem with Calibre.
They do not convert.
And if I covert them with another tool than the covers don't show on the kindle paperwhite.

Normally I convert it with Calibre and than I see the covers, but now they won't convert anymore.

Who has the same problem and has a solution please?

I'm having the same issue with a couple of books I just bought. Looks like the Kindle App for PC updated first.

They may have changed the way DRM is attached to the file. If so, Calibre with the proper plugin may not work any longer :(

Apprentice Alf usually updates his DeDRM tool pretty quickly after Amazon updates the way they do things. Check it out at his site:

Try reverting to an older version of Kindle for PC/Mac. That should allow you to remove the DRM through Calibre as you used to.

Here's a link to a page that discusses the problem and gives links to version 1.17 for both OSes.

I'm glad to hear it worked. :)

I forgot to mention - make sure that you turn off automatic updates in the Kindle app or it will just overwrite the older version next time you open the app while connected to the Internet.

How do I do that on my laptop?

First you want to temporarily disable your Internet connection to your laptop and then open the Kindle for PC app. Under Tools -> Options you want to click on the General tab and uncheck the "Automatically install updates when they are available without asking me." Save and close the app and you're good to go.

After that you can restore your Internet connection and restart the app with no worries about it being upgraded without you explicitly choosing to do so, though you will be notified every time you start the app that a new version is available and asked if you want to install it. Just choose the option to skip the update and you'll be fine.
