Does any one know how to change the page numbers in an ePub eBook with Calibre or Sigil?

I recently downloaded an eBook that didn't have the right cover. The image it had on the cover page was the logo of the publisher (Penguin) which you can see below.

In Calibre I changed the cover to the right one. But instead of replacing the old cover, like Calibre usually does, it created a new page. When I open the eBook with its new cover, it still opens on the the old cover with the Penguin logo. As you can see in the screen-shots below, the new cover I added is on page 0 and the old cover page is on page 1. I want my new cover to be the only cover page, and for the eBook to only open on that page, which should be page 1. But even when I delete the old cover page with the Penguin logo, so that my new cover becomes page 1, it doesn't work. The title page becomes page one and my new cover remains page 0.

How do I change page 0 to page 1, and as a result of that have all the other pages renumbered accordingly?

If you still have a copy of the unchanged book, the easiest way to fix the problem is to open the ebook using an archiving software such as Winrar, find the "wrong" cover image and take note of the name. Then rename your new cover to match that name and drag-drop it into the archive so it overwrites the old image: problem solved.

If you don't have an unchanged copy of the book any longer, then best bet is to open the book in Sigil, delete the titlepage, and rename the 2nd page (which has the new cover) as the titlepage. If you follow the exact same naming convention (titlepage.xhtml or .html - whichever your ebook uses) then the TOC "cover" reference will point at the new titlepage.

Either solution should resolve your issue with the page numbers.

I managed to fix it with Sigil.

Thanks again for your help Fizban, you're a life saver!
