I currently have a B&N Nook HD+ but here in England it's not supported anymore, I use the Kobo app as I get most of my books from Kobo.

I'm wondering if I should invest in another ereader, maybe the 'dreaded' Amazon... I have KU but only on the US store as I signed up for Prime on that site, but it's not on the UK site (apparently you have to sign up twice if you want it on the UK site too!). Kobo don't make a colour ereader.

Anyway, I use Kobo and ePubs which is why I'm hesitant to move to Amazon. But there isn't a colour ereader out there (and I really don't want black and white, it's 2017, I expect a colour cover on my book). Anyone know if there's a colour ereader in the pipeline anywhere or should I just stick with my Nook and hope it continues to work?!?

For colour, Amazon has the Fire series, but it really is just an android device that uses a built in version of Kindle Reader. For a true ebook reader, they have nothing announced. The problem they face with colour is the battery life. From the moment you turn on a flashy screen, it starts sucking the life out of a device. And then the readability of the text when in different light conditions is an issue as well.

Anyway, I use Kobo and ePubs which is why I'm hesitant to move to Amazon

No fear on this front. A kindle will happily use the epub format. In fact, the azw format is actually an epub file in a wrapper for copy protection. There is also that wonderful program Calibre that can convert between formats if needed.

If you are happy with your reader and it keeps doing the job, I would say stay with it.

I am no longer re-uploading books. If both links are no longer working, please feel free to post in the topic that you would like the book.

I like the eink screen myself to monochrome is fine for me. I've had three or four kobos but currently use a kindle paperwhite. I too was concerned about the move to mobi from epub. But i've found it pretty easy. You can convert between formats in seconds.

I have both Kindle Fire and Kindle 4th generation. I use Fire every day and my old Kindle hasn't been charged in months. Kindle Fire is great cause you can 'hack' it and use all Android apps so I mainly use it to watch my shows, for browsing, for reading comics and learning French. The only downside is having to charge it every 2-3 days.

Like previous posters mentioned. You can always convert files on Calibre. Or you can continue using your current device. But I can tell you, Fire is an awesome little and affordable tablet and you can even insert your SD card to get even more space. :)

I'm happy with my H2O but I'd also like to see color screens. The first color eReaders weren't a financial success, mostly due to the washed out, muted colors and the immature technology manufacturers went to market with.

We might get lucky in 2018 or 2019 though, there are a couple of contenders. Off the top of my head, there's Advanced Color ePaper – if eReader manufacturers decide to produce devices with this technology. 32k colors @ 150 PPI and it's not too fast, if I remember correctly.
POLEDs are apparently making a comeback next year and might be worth looking into. Dunno about energy requirements but
CLEARink looks good with it's 4k colors and is fast enough to play 30 fps video; mass production should start later this year.
Amazon’s Liquavista might turn out to be viable even though it looks like it's dead in the water.

Combine any viable display technology with the latest Freescale IMX.7 SoC and we might have a winner. I think the next years will be very interesting.

Kindle all the way .... never felt my eyes growing tired unlike when reading on a laptop or a tablet ... However, for all text books, reference material and stuff, I still prefer paperbacks :D

I've been wondering myself for ages if it's worth the money to buy a kindle device when you can just use the app on your phone or tablet.. I'd like help on this topic as well, heh.

And by the moon the reaper weary
Piling sheaves in uplands airy
Listening, whispers; "'Tis the fairy
The Lady of Shalott."

I've been a big Nook fan for years, but I'm slowly moving toward the Kindle. The last 3 Nook devices have had more technical issues than the Kindle Paperwhite I own, plus Amazon has waaaaaaay more free ebooks (if only temporarily) than B&N.

I'm keeping my Nook Glowlight 3 for now, but when it dies I don't know if I'll replace it. :(
