I have a nook but am considering buying a Kindle. However, I have a pretty substantial library of non-amazon store content that I plan to add. I know that the Nook has a certain amount of memory earmarked for B&N content, and a certain amount of free memory for additional content.

I was wondering if the latest Kindle Paperwhite also limits it's non-Amazon document storage and if so, how many gigs of memory is earmarked for personal documents.

Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

It holds around 2000 books or so. All of mine are side loaded. Be warned, it will index e ery word in every book,so either leave it plugged in for a couple days after adding all your books or be aware the battery may need charged sooner than expected.

AFAIK, Kindles have no limitation on side loaded books, i.e. all unused memory is available regardless of where you got the book or whether it's a book or document or whatever. I have not experienced what dollarhorror described.

Two more things: If you load up yr Kindle (as I do) to the point where there is little free memory left, you may get application errors. Usually, I can just hit cancel and it works just fine. Once I had to restart the Kindle - big deal.

The other thing is, if you leave too little free memory, the Kindle updates will not install. Duh. But it took a couple of days of update errors for *me* to figure that out! LOL!
