Hi

Always used zippyshare and have had no problems until last night.
Now when I click a link or type it in my browser I get 403 Forbidden Error message.
Does anyone know what has gone wrong and how it can be fixed?
I have very little tech knowledge.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well no one seems to know what is happening at the moment. Seems to be a problem affecting the UK only from what I can gather.
Anyone else with the same problem?

Looks like your right, it seems to be a UK issue. I get 403 errors trying to logon. If I try and change my location with the VPN, then I can get on ok. I've raised a ticket with them so we'll see what they say

Looks like a UK ban has been put in place then.
I’ll have to see which other sharing sites are reliable to use for now, I don’t have VPN.

Thanks for the info, hopefully this is a error by Zippyshare that will get sorted out soon.

I use the Opera browser (https://www.opera.com) which has a built-in VPN for Zippy and other sites my ISP does not want me to go to.

Most VPN"s will allow you access. You can install a free one into chrome browser from the chrome store.

If you need a VPN, and you use Firefox, then Hoxx works well as a freebie provided you aren't hammering it

It seems this is the case. I get the same issue if I use my standard VPN location, which is Germany. Change it to somewhere like the Far East (Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and so on) and you get in without problems. This is just an extension of the use of geolocation (checking where you are by looking at your IP address).

Peace of mind says "get a VPN" anyway, so perhaps that's the way to go.
Caveat: Be aware that there has been, for ages, a trend of big companies to be "user friendly". Your IP address is checked and, provided the language is available, the next screen you see will be in the language for that country. You want to open up your email using a Thai? Order your next suit of clothes in Vietnamese? Not really.

Regards
P.
