I love my Kindle and read for hours at a time. I probably average 3 hours per day. Thanks to this site I now have my Kindle filled to about 70% capacity. My problem is battery life though. I knew I would not get a month of life between charges as I use it so much and meddle with re-organizing folders and such like. I was not however expecting it to be as bad as it is. At present I have to charge my Kindle almost every day. The funny thing is though that it started its life with me at that rate then settled down to lasting for a week to ten days before dropping down to daily recharges again. Any tips on why this could be happening?
Like any battery, the more they are used, the faster they degrade. Batteries have a finite number of ions to exchange, once they are gone, it's time to invest in a new one.
And like any computer, an idle kindle will not use up it's charge very quickly, a busy kindle will use it up in no time at all. Specially if you're using the wifi or 3G. It's a radio transceiver, after all.
To extend the life of your battery, you could try plugging in your kindle whenever possible. Specially if playing around with it's different functions.
