Hi there, it’s a bad news! My one and only Kindle which I brought in here (By a friend who lives abroad) is malfunctioning.

I think it is happened due to my mishandling. Yesterday night I was transferring some books which I downloaded from Mobilism. I was using the software Calibre Portable. After adding the books I used “Send to device” button to transfer the books. When the job was around 80% done, suddenly the USB connected cable was disconnected by my hand unintentionally. Then I opened the kindle and found that:

After scrolling upto Page 7 it does not go to the Page 8 and everything freezes. After 2/3 minutes if it moves to the next page we see only:

……….................
……….................
………................
………................

But no book is visible. Now if I use the “Go to page” and select page say 20, I can see the other books.

Now I feel that something has gone wrong when the book was being transferred and disconnected. I think, I can try with a hard reset or formatting the whole memory.
What do you suggest? How can I do that? Or update the firmwire?

Please help!!!

Anybody with a Kindle willing to help here?
Had it happened to my Sony I would have re-formatted, connected back to Calibre and again 'send books to device'.

Maybe Kindle users have better ideas?

I do not own a Kindle but I would imagine that the problem is caused by the Kindle trying to read a partial file. Try connecting it to a PC and using Explorer to delete the files from the Kindle and then reload them.

Hmm....thanks....I have done something:

1) Kept pressing "ON" button for 20 seconds, they say it's a Hard Reset.
2) Then in the settings: Reset to factory default (it deleted all the files)
3) Then updated the OS.

But the problem seems persisting, now in different pages...at Page7.

I just became a member here so sorry for adding advice so long after the question was asked.

When using Calibre to convert books, do not send to Kindle directly.
First save to computer and then manually load onto Kindle (in documents folder).
Also, you might want to remove all files on Kindle which are loaded on the device's main program level (not books themselve) via Calibre.

This works for me on my Kindle DX.

I didn't get your "Remove All Files" part.....can you explain it further?
