Hi,

some of the ebooks, available as download are suffixed with a version information, e.q. _v4 or _v5.

I see that the higher the number the better the format, but besides this I would like to understand its meaning.

What is the meaning of this version information ?

In MOST cases these are new editions which have been edited especially for an eBook release by the publisher and author. Thus, ensuring the best quality. Honestly though there is no specific version unless it was at the publishers discretion to add a version. Might be just a thing where it was specific edits that didn't turn out right over time while being digitized. It's much like a program release you'd get like your browser or computer.

For instance, when I bought The Innocent by David Baldacci, looking at the bottom of the copyright page it says v3.1, it's full retail obviously, that's their way of saying this is the 3rd version with a bit extra added on.
