Which is better for avid readers - the nook simple touch glowlight or the Kindle Paperwhite or the Kobo Glo? I need a reader that is compatible for nearly all formats, i.e. epub, mobi, html, lit., pdf, text, rtf, docx, etc.
Also, one that can play music.

Thanks :)

I also suggest Kindle for eye comfort while reading because every time your eye switches from a bright screen to a point in a darker environment, you need to adjust your eyes, which can lead to fatigue over time. The Kindle screen has a similar brightness as the surrounding environment, so that this adjustment is not required.

Book to eBook conversion - www.suntecdigital.com/

I was gifted with, first, a Kindle, then a Kindle Paperwhite, then a Nook tablet in rather quick succession. I had never read any ebooks until I got the Kindle, and quickly became a convert. I'd never had a touchscreen device before the Paperwhite, but liked the utility of the lighted screen so much that I relegated the original Kindle to the bathroom. :) The Nook? I keep meaning to use it, I really do. But as a reading device it's too heavy and too big to pop into a pocket when going out.

I'm really sold on the Kindle Paperwhite. I like the "feel" and the clean design. But the main thing is that great screen lighting which I can adjust for ease of reading in bright sunlight all the way down to pitch dark. Of course, that device doesn't meet iehsan's wish to listen to music.

Depending on your budget really. But I'd go with Kindle Paperwhite anytime.

I have a Kobo Touch as well. It's my very first eReader so I'm probably not the most qualified person to be giving up advices on eReaders... but I'm going to anyway! x)
I did a lot of research before I bought it and I do not regret my purchase one bit.
The Kobo Touch is light, easy to use, can accommodate a memory card, tells you your reading stats (can be fun), the battery lasts for weeks and it's pretty! Well, I personally think it's adorable.
I wear glasses and usually read for hours on end but never ever got tired or even felt my eyes itching because of the screen. The KT it's super comfortable to hold and read on.
The only downside I found until now is what sherlockx said: it tends to take 2 seconds to change from one page to another but I believe it usually happens only when you store a lot of books at once on the KT itself. Ever since I moved all my 2000 books to the SD card, it's been working a lot quicker.

Hope I make myself clear. English is not my first language.

I have a paperwhite, its brill, i had kindle keyboard with clip on light, which i found annoying when trying to read in bed. The paperwhite solved all my problems, you can alter the brightness of light to whats comfortable for you. I highly recommend kindle paperwhite

Try to find one with a night mode on it (black background, white or yellow letters).I feel comfortable with it on my Blackberry Pearl with Mobipocket reader application,so i think that will help on eReaders too.

I own a Kobo Aura HD. It has built-in lighting. I'll never go back to an ereader without built in lighting, due to eyestress.
