Multiple ebooks in one download

Sometimes when I download a file that includes multiple ebooks in one file, I am only able to see one of the books when it is imported into Calibre.
What am I doing wrong?

Are you extracting the downloaded file prior to bringing it/them into Calibre?

If it is a .rar file how do you extract that? I do extract the zip files.

use winrar or any compression software that supports .rar file
