The link's name explains some; the article adds depth. But no understanding of how/why.

I can suss out what actually occurred; we all can, I believe. Nor is it especially mystifying, if correct. A seeming nothing is a notable item for us all. Bottom line: Prepare yourself (for changes).

Well, i guess this answers the question some users had last year concerning the safety of using Amazon cloud i.e. viewtopic.php?f=1147&t=224888

so, all kindle users BEWARE: be very careful of anything that is loaded on your kindle which amazon can see. they clearly will abuse their position to see what is on your kindle and penalize you if they feel you deserve it.

i have just deleted ALL my books from amazon cloud and will not be using the wifi option on my kindle until i have transferred all my books to a tablet. my kindle will only be for the books i buy from amazon and i won't be buying a new kindle.

No reason not to buy, BUT don't let them see what you have on your kindle.

What if I don't have any amazon book on my kindle? could they cancel them too?
Can they track what's contained in my kindle even if I'm offline?

don't worry, they can only know what's on your kindle when you turn on the wifi option and your kindle synchronizes with their cloud.

just load the books using your usb connection.

I don't have a "dedicated" ebook reader yet (my ebooks are read on my laptop with free reader software), but I was thinking about getting one. I was looking at the Kindle and the Nook. I liked the Kindle a bit better, but the Nook takes SD cards (easier loading of books and room for a great deal more books). This has pretty much decided it for me. If I do get one, I think I will go with the Nook. "Thanks, Amazon, you just lost any possibility of a sale here." Amazon is just a bit too "high-handed" for my tastes! :?

Bohica: You might want to consider a Kobo too, has all the features including the SD card slot also. I love mine.

I'm planning to buy a Kindle but I'm having second thoughts now. If they block your account, will you still be able to use your kindle??

I think I'll go with plan B. Buy an iPad or another tablet.
