I use calibre on the ipad and love the ability to view a description of the book in calibre. Unfortunately I lose this information once the books are on my ipad. Is there a way to view the metadata in ibooks (essentially the back cover) like you can in Stanza if you share your calibre library?

There is an option in the Calibre convert menu that will make the metada the first page of the book you just converted.. very handy

But it completely destroyed the overall feel of the book and unless your not a picky individual it's okay but I think a majority of the readers worldwide would prefer to keep a book in the quality it was received.

agreed..

I want to keep the feel of the book. I don't want to load my library into my ipad because it would be a nightmare to find a relevant book, say new releases/thrillers.

Ibooks doesn't allow you to do this so all I would be left with are thousands of covers with no real description.

Destroy the feel of a book?.. Its a cold electronic version of a book, there is no feel to it.
Think of it as the inside front flap description in a hardback.. its the only way you can keep track of several thousand books.

I am a stickler for the book staying in its proper style. Any additional data is unacceptable to me such as adding the metadata to the front cover.

Yeah but I prefer I books as my reader it is a smooth interface but if I add 50-100 books I don't know what each one is about.

e.g going on holiday and loading up a few books to read at the pool, I owuld like to know what each book is about should I be ready to commence a book.

I can do this in stanza but I find the interface to clunky.

Any other e reader suggestions for an ipad?

If you do the option with calibre then your stuck with it unless your able to go into an ePub editing program and remove it at a later date.

What about making an rtf with author title and description for the books and converting into your reader format? I was considering this option, I store so many books but my memory is terrible
Yes more work but it doesn't affect the book at all!
