I read reviews that the backlight is uneven with pink/green tones. Has anyone who has bought one recently had this problem? Just wondered if they ahd sorted this problem.

I just got one recently. It arrived this Tuesday. My one doesn't have any green or pink tones. There is however a slight shadow along the bottom, but I probably wouldn't have noticed it if I wasn't looking for it. Like others have said, it doesn't distract you from reading your books. Overall, I really like the device. The internet sucks though, but that's understandable since it's designed to read books.

Just bought a paperwhite and very happy with screen. Can't see any green/pink areas like some early reviews. Great quality e-ink screen.

I got my Kindle Paperwhite about a month ago and love it! I haven't noticed any discolorations or any uneven lighting. If it does happen, send it in as soon as you notice it so that Amazon can repair it or send you another while you're still covered under warranty!!

My paperwhite is about a year old IIRC but it doesn't have any of the described issues either.

I've had mine for a couple of weeks - love it - no pink or other colors. Of course at the bottom where the lights are there is some highlighting and darkening between them. But nothing that bothers me. Works great outside and inside.

I've had mine since December. I don't have any pink or green tones on my screen. It's all white, except for the shadows from the lights at the bottom which aren't a distraction at all.

I replaced my Kindle zDX with a Paperwhite the week bwfore last. It is the besr ebook reader I've ever used. If you read at night (night time planes etc), you'rein for a treat. Can not speak highly enough. Get a cover with a hand sleeve (e.g.Marwarew) to make the experience ev en better, and do *NOT* drop it, not let any 2 year olds take possession of it - for any length of time....
... just my 2c

Ahhh, forgot to add, my 2 y.o. loves to eread ebooks/books on the Paperwhite more so than the DX (even though DX is way larger).
I'd say it's because of the active light (which she lovesto micro & macro manage - relax, battery charge is quality Amazon , las long llong - even on brightest, and dulesr, and brightest, then dullest, and then...

Thanks Jeff /Amazon, you've made my book-nerdi/wormyness a wonderful thing.

Ummm...5c?

Regards,

/Dave

I have a Kindle Paperwhite that does have the pink/green on the screen. Amazon sent me 4 different replacements and they all have the same problem. I ended up keeping the one that had the least discoloration and I try to ignore it.

Brought one yesterday and loving it. Can't see any discoloration at all. The lights is not totally even, I can see bright patches here and there but doesn't bothers me at all. Loving the night reading experience and although it's quite similar with reading on iPad at night (screen wise) - I can feel it much easier on the eyes. Already spend approx 7.5 hrs reading on it as almost finish the book I am currently reading. :)

Actually, mine does have slight reddish/pink tones that you can see when the light is turned up. I don't care, though. I never really noticed it until lately, when it was brought up in this thread, and I've been reading on my Kindle for months now so it obviously isn't a bother to me.

The uneven lighting is simply caused by the shadowing of the LED lights at the bottom of the screen. There's 4 of them there. It's totally normal and there's nothing wrong with that.
