Hi!
I have all my ebooks (mostly epubs) in a dropbox folder for easy access from different devices. I'm looking for a service that will allow me to "look" at all the files in this dropbox-folder and show me cover and maybe some metadata. I have to many books to just import them all into ibooks and now its a drag to go through the dropbox app since it can't show thumbnails of ebooks.

Any ideas how to get around this. I understand that I can import it all into Calibre or something but I want a simpler solution that would allow me to just get a glance of all the files I have before importing them into ibooks (or other reader)

help would be great!

thanks in advance!

/Jakob

Been looking for something like this too, i dont use dropbox i use mediafire and i Put my Books in .rar files and download them when i want to read them again. Sadly there is no program to do this, maybe a cloud based reader where you can upload your own books in to the account.

Depends on what device you're putting them into.
On my iPad I put epubs in iBook. Otherwise I convert them to mobi and put them in the Kindle app. As soon as I get them where I want, I delete them from Dropbox...ergo I am not taking up space in Dropbox.
Once they are in iBooks or Kindle app. (I made "collections" of various categories, eg: sci fi, mysteries, historical fiction, cookbooks, etc. in both aps) I put them in the categorie/collection of choice. Easy. Works for me.

I use Calibre and direct it's main library to Dropbox. That gives me control over the metadata, formatting, etc and universal access to ebooks on the cloud.

I agree. Using Calibre to organize your library is most likely the most effective and same time cheapest possibility. Also, it provides you with tools to convert, edit books, and you can connect to your iTunes, Amazon. The library folder can be placed wherever you like. Personally, my library is on the HD and synched to dropbox.

If you like what you read consider supporting the author and buy the book.

I like you clicking the Thank You button
If links down, pm

You could also check out using Calibre and Calibre2OPDS and pointing them both to Dropbox.

That should give you a searchable catalog in the cloud. (I think!)
