NOTE: if this is already a topic somewhere, Mods, feel free to merge it and accept my apologies.

So I have an iPad 1 with the Kindle App on there. I have about 20 .MOBI files that I have side loaded onto the iPad, and yet they come up under the DOC's tab, rather than the Books tab.

I've done some looking around online, and they all say you have to remove the [PDOC] tag from it in Calibre and re-convert again to MOBI, and that'd work. So I did that, and it did not work. They still show up in DOCS.

THEN I found another one that said you have to replace the [PDOC] with [EBOK] and then convert it to MOBI (even though it's already a MOBI) and THAT would work.

No dice.

I'm not super knowledgeable about this type of thing, and so I'm trying to figure out what I can do to have these ebooks show up under the Books tab.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if you've found a solution yet but have you tried converting your original mobi file to epub then back to mobi or azw3? You could also try mobi to azw3. Maybe the problem is mobi to mobi conversion? Don't forget to switch [PDOC] to [EBOK] for the final mobi/azw3 output. Best of luck!

I have this problem on my kindle with some books. What angers me is that they are books I purchased directly from amazon and they synced to my kindle that way.
