I hv an old Core 2 Duo system and Calibre ebook viewer took nearly half a minute to open there files viewtopic.php?f=121&t=818672&hilit=Robert howard viewtopic.php?f=126&t=588220&hilit=Airborne I hv much bigger files than these for ex Complete Collection of Charles Dickens 55MB which took almost a minute to open. Granted Core 2 Duo is positively ancient but it is miles ahead of the Arm Soc powering the Kindle etc. So how well does the Kindle handle these large files?

I cannot tell you about the Kindle but I use a Kobo 1.36gb internal, (1gb used) with an 8gb micro sd storage 0.5gb used, total 575 books on it. I loaded on to the storage card a 240mb book & then opened it on the Kobo & that took about 2 seconds.
Does that help?
If you want to look at the specifications for the Kobo it is the original Kobo touch
