Greetings to all book fans. :D I decided to open this thread because I would like to hear recommendations
about good Mystery books, good Mystery series or good Mystery authors.
I know that there is a huge amount of Mystery books on Mobilism, but which of these books
you read and found so good so you can recommend them to others ?
Thanks in advance to anyone who would spend a little of his time to write his recommendations. :D

Not sure what genre of mysteries appeal to you (that is, hard-boiled or action oriented, cozy/realistic, modern, or historical) and what kind of main characters....could you give some examples of what you have enjoyed in the past?

If you like historicals, I'm reading the Molly Murphy series by Rhys Bowen right now.

I love reading about New York at the beginning of the 20th century, and the mindset of the people at the time

I loved the first book in the Flavia de Luce series by Alan Bradley.

I also recommend Dust and Shadow by Lyndsay Faye - an excellent Sherlock Holmes pastiche where he hunts Jack the Ripper.

A bit older, but have you read the Kenzie and Gennaro series by Dennis Lehane?

I love Dorothy L Sayers' Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries for a good historical mystery, especially the ones with Harriet Vane. They're mostly great, but you do have to keep in mind that they were written in the 1930s

You may like the Agatha Raisin series by M.C. Beaton set in rural Britain. They're fun and light, but also intelligent and suspenseful. Also funny.

Another mystery series I really enjoy is Linda Chance's Kate Burkholder series, set in rural America near an Amish comunity

The main character is the chief of police and an ex-Amish herself

If you are into cozy mysteries
Mary Daheim wrote 2 series
the Emma Lord murder mystery series about a small town newspaper publisher/editor and
the Bed and Breakfast mystery series in which B&B owner is forever tripping over dead bodies.

More realistic
Karin Fossum the Inspector Sejer series. Is placed in Norway.
Barbara Nadel the Inspector Ikmen series. Is placed in Istanbul.

Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich is brilliantly funny.
Alex cross series by James Patterson.
If you like 'quaint' books, can't beat a bit of Agatha Christie. I always struggle to work out whodunnit!
Oh and the Roy Grace series by Peter James is fantastic.
