Hello, can anyone recommend current or not so current writers in the same league as Doctorow and Beckett? I feel they're on the cutting edge. If you've read them I'll wager you agree.

Did a quick lookup of Cory Doctorow and got the following:

Read-alikes
1. Willis, Connie Thumbs Up Thumbs Down
Reason: Connie Willis' speculative fiction features the same dry and at times satirical humor that propels Doctorow's fiction. Both authors portray more or less normal people who find themselves in less than normal circumstances. Willis is not as fast-paced, but readers looking for character-driven speculative fiction will find much to enjoy. -- Krista Biggs
2. Stewart, Sean, 1965- Thumbs Up Thumbs Down
Reason: Sean Stewart and Cory Doctorow explore our present and near future world with a science fictional or fantastic twist. Both their teen and adult books are fast paced with engaging characters who are more interested in following their consciences and doing what needs to be done than following the rules. -- Melissa Gray
3. Bacigalupi, Paolo Thumbs Up Thumbs Down
Reason: Both authors write thought-provoking, intricate dystopian fiction for teens. While Doctorow's books tend to focus more on the impact of technology on society, both authors' works feature sophisticated ethical problems and engaging, complex characters who resist the societies they live in. -- Kelly White
4. Gagnon, Michelle, 1971- Thumbs Up Thumbs Down
Reason: Technology, action, and a lively pace characterize Cory Doctorow and Michelle Gagnon's teen novels. While Doctorow devotes more attention to the philosophical impact of technology on society, both writers incorporate suspense and intrigue into novels that will surely interest technophile readers. -- Kelly White

I've just read "Walkaway" and enjoyed it.
I suggest you try "Dog Star" by Peter Heller and "Wool", "Dust" "Shift" by Hugh Howey.

For doctorow- go old school cyberpunk. Gibson and Stephenson had very similar "bleeding edge, barely science fiction, day after tomorrow" feel

I also highly recommend charles stross, he cowrote rapture of the nerds with docotorow but all of his solo stuff is rock solid awesome.

There's no review so damning as no one loving your work enough to preserve it.

- the external all my uploads lived on has died by cat. I'm unable to reupload anything from pre 2015.
