Hi there.
I hope you're all right and well.

I was wondering if you could help me here, and recommend some good novellas or short stories (less than 60 or 70 pages), that'd be great.
Thanks a million.

Hello.
How about Roald Dahl? He is much better known for his children's books, but he also wrote awesome adult short stories. They vary from really quite creepy/bizarre to darkly humorous - there's something for every taste. These are just a few good ones you could try, to see whether you like his style: Lamb to the Slaughter, The Way up to Heaven, Genesis and Catastrophe, Parson's Pleasure, Mrs Bixby and the Colonel's Coat.

Also, if you are after something classic yet fun, check out Oscar Wilde. The Canterville Ghost is a delightful novella. And 'tis almost the season to read ghost stories by the fireplace :)

It would be easier to recommend something if you specified your preferred genre, though.

Hi.
Thanks a lot for these.
Yea, you're right. I should've narrowed it down.
I think philosophical novellas are my favorites, especially by pessimist writers. I'm looking for a good ol' novella (around 70 pages) with such themes, and yes I've already read the big ones like Camus' and Sartre's and etc.

Thanks a bunch.
Scalzi & Lui's books sure sound amazing. Gotta try reading them.

That does narrow it down quite a bit. I assume, you've read George Orwell's Animal Farm? How about Gabriel Garcia Marquez's No One Writes to the Colonel? Or short stories by Franz Kafka? I would also heartily recommend Stefan Zweig.
