Hi ... can anyone recommend a good book on cricket that explains the rules easily, in simple terms ... for an American to understand? I'm Scottish but living in England with a cricketing son and I still don't understand ALL the rules. I have an American friend who likes to watch it on TV but understands even less about it than I do.

So any recommendations that can clarify for both of us would be greatly appreiciated.

Many thanks :)

Hello, nephtine. You could try The Bluffer's Guide to Cricket by James Trollope. It's only a short book, but it gives you the lowdown on the rules and a pretty sound understanding of terminology. It also relates a number of interesting tidbits. Overall, it's very readable and quite funny.
