Obviously with the rise of Stieg Larsson and Jo Nesbø plus a few others like Henning Mankell I've gotten into reading up on the books from Norway, Sweden, Finland and a few others in that region but I would like to make sure I've covered all known authors. Anybody got some suggestions?

Ahh yes. I have some of those. It taking me some time to get around to them though. Couldn't forget Åsa Larsson.

Nice! The whole Nordic crime writing scene has opened new dimensions to me so definitely looking for an expansion of the literary mind and body.

There's Kjell Westo, Carina Rydberg and Carl-Johan Vallgren.
I don't think that Vallgren's History of Startling Love (a very loosely translated worktitle) has been translated into English yet, but when it is - I sincerely recommend reading that book!

Don't forget Håkan Nesser! His series on Van Vetereen is great! (And his other books as well.)

Compared with Mankell/Larsson/Holt there's less blood and gore and more psychology.

Many of his books are set in a fictional 'Maardam', somewhere in central/western Europe (it's a weird mixture of Holland/Poland/Sweden).

His books have been very popular in Sweden as well as in Finland and Germany, but haven't been translated into English until recently.

So LibertyBelle suggested I update this post since I've found some many other great Nordic authors. I don't even know where to begin.

Smilla's Sense of Snow by Peter Hoeg?

I heard a funny stat that there are more murder mysteries published in Sweden than there are actual murders in Sweden. :)
