Dear Community!

I am from Germany (so pls excuse my expression) and searching for "Jane Austen"-alike reads, especially (female) authors of the 19th century. Do you have some reading tips for me? Something historical, social criticism, image of women, a great deal of feeling, maybe a little breeze kitsch?

The Bronte sisters, Elizabeth Gaskell, Louisa May Alcott, Frances Burnay, Maria Edgeworth.

If you don't mind 20th century authors writing in that time period, try Georgette Heyer and Clare Darcy. They both wrote several Regency-era romances.
