Maybe I've been looking in the wrong places but I cannot find an epic fantasy that has LGBT themes or characters. It doesn't have to be a romance; in fact, I'd prefer it be more epic fantasy but at this point I'll give anything a shot. I'm NOT looking for modern fantasy. Elves and orcs over vampires and werewolves please! Erotica content is okay.

N.K. Jemisin has LGBT characters in many of her books, although it isn't the central theme. Like she does with race, it's treated as not really a big deal because in this world it isn't. In the Broken Earth trilogy, there is a polyamorous relationship and a trans character. In the Hundred Thousand Kingdoms series, pretty much every main character is pansexual to some degree.

Obviously try the Kushiel's Legacy series if you haven't. The main character is bisexual, possibly pansexual (I was never clear on the distinction). Jacqueline Carey's stuff in general is LGBTQ+ friendly and always very well written.

Lynn Flewelling is always great. Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat is a personal all time favorite.

I'd consider all of those high fantasy and easily recommendable. Not just because they're LGBTQ+ but because they're straight up GOOD or GREAT.

Oh and this is a minor spoiler, but try The Priory of the Orange Tree. Fairly new book but has a couple of beautiful LGBT romances and amazing story. Don't know how I forgot that one.

Thanks for the leads! I will definitely be checking these out! And yeah, I really don't care if its MM, FF, trans or whatever. I'm just sick of straight people :P (That's a JOKE, please don't be angry!)

From Goodreads LGBT high fantasy list link;
Megan derr - the high king`s golden tongue & tournament of loosers
(My addon when those two books above mentioned: Sasha l. Miller - battle of will)
Amy rae durreson - reawakening

For epic, my choice would be:
Lynn Flewelling - the tamir triad

Upsy...Unfortunately; they don't have the nonhuman species you would like to read.

I'm afraid it's not your typical High Fantasy, and as far as I can remember, there are no elves or orcs as well, but it's LGBT Fantasy, so maybe you want to take a look:
Elizabeth A. Lynn - Chronicles of Tornor - 3 book series: Watchtower, The Dancers of Arun, The Northern Girl

The James Tiptree award finalists and winners usually would be a good place to look. https://tiptree.org/award/2018-james-tiptree-jr-award/2018-james-tiptree-jr-award-recommendations
I also second the N K Jemisin series, the Broken Earth. It's a truly powerful, moving story, and so human.

An article by Mikaella Clements in the Guardian (online, Jan 14, 2020) includes a nice discussion of LGBTQ inclusion in fantasy & science fiction. Besides a review of some notable past titles, it highlights releases coming up in 2020. Lots of great links!

"Why would I close the door to a queer person?" LGBTQ fantasy comes of age.
