Maybe I'm way behind the curve here but I've come across a really interesting website called "The Literature Map"

You plug in the name of an author you like and up pops a dynamic constellation of other authors names with your author in the center... the closer the name the more they are like your author... and being dynamic, you can click on any name in the constellation and get a new page centered on them.
